Mark documents as confidential
Upload a contract or internal document. Set the watermark text to CONFIDENTIAL, choose diagonal position with 30% opacity and a gray color. Apply to all pages and download.
Add DRAFT to working documents
Set the text to DRAFT with large font size (72) and low opacity (20%). Use the diagonal position so it appears across the page content without obscuring it.
Stamp specific pages only
Upload a multi-page report and add a watermark only to the cover page and appendix. Enter the page range as 1, 15-18 to target specific pages.

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. All watermark processing happens entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your files never leave your device.
Can I add an image watermark instead of text?
This tool focuses on text watermarks, which cover most use cases (confidential, draft, company name). For image overlays, consider using the PDF merger to combine an overlay PDF with your document.
Will the watermark cover existing text?
The watermark is drawn on top of existing content with the opacity you set. At 20-30% opacity, the original text remains readable beneath the watermark. Adjust opacity and font size to find the right balance.
Can I remove a watermark added by this tool?
No. The text is permanently drawn into the PDF pages. Always keep your original unwatermarked file if you might need it later.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
The tool can load PDFs with owner passwords (print/edit restrictions) but cannot open PDFs that require a user password to view. Remove the password first if needed.
