How does link tracking work?
When you create a tracked link, we generate a short URL that redirects to your target URL. Each time someone clicks the short link, we log the click with metadata (country, device, browser, referrer) before redirecting. The redirect happens in milliseconds, so visitors do not notice any delay.
Is link tracking free?
Free accounts can create up to 5 tracked links with total click counts. Pro accounts get unlimited tracked links with full analytics (geography, devices, referrers, timeline charts). Business accounts add CSV export and team API access.
Can I use a custom short code?
Pro and Business users can set custom short codes (3-32 characters, letters, numbers, and hyphens). For example, toolknife.com/r/my-brand. Free users get auto-generated codes.
How accurate is the geographic data?
Location data comes from Cloudflare edge servers, which identify the country and city of each visitor based on their IP address. This is the same technology used by major analytics platforms. Accuracy is typically within the correct city for most visitors.
Can I edit or delete a tracked link?
Yes. You can change the target URL, rename the link, pause it (stops redirecting), or delete it entirely. Paused links return a 404 page. Deleted links remove all click history permanently.
